Living Room to Home Office Transformation

(Houzz.com)

I recently did a "Walk-Thru" consultation where I spend 2 hours with my client and we talk about anything and everything in their home.  During this type of consultation, I give suggestions, advice, answer questions, make recommendations, etc.  and then that homeowner can implement those ideas on their own or hire me to assist them.

BEFORE

This client was needing specific ideas for her front living room that was never used.  Her kids are grown and this space in her home needing sprucing up.  She really needed an office space where she could take her laptop and do research, etc. but needed it to look really nice because it's the first room you see when you enter their home.  We decided that this room could totally be used as an office and got to work with ideas.  She wanted to implement the ideas we discussed herself and she promised she would send me pictures when it was all done.

 AFTER

I love it when clients send me their after pictures!  It is so much fun to see the ideas we talk about come to life!  She took frantic notes and said she followed them step by step.

She donated the living room set and started by adding wood floors.  She then stenciled the back wall to add interest.  She purchased a round mirror to add shape to the space.  A chevron rug was added to lighten up the room.  She painted her existing floor lamp a soft gray and purchased a new glamorous white desk and complimentary chair.  A few new accessories and she has a new room where she can escape from the TV and focus on her "to do's".

I believe every room in your home should be used.  If no-one ever goes in a room in your home, change it up and transform it into a room that will be LOVED and USED. If you decided to RENEW your existing formal living room, use 4 chairs instead of a couch and loveseat.  A grouping like the above, makes it conversational and inviting.
