My client reached out to me about 5 years ago to help with their ranch style home in Flower Mound.

They hired me to consult with them throughout the remodel process. After the remodel was complete, we then did all the furnishings and decor for their family room and entry.

BEFORE FAMILY ROOM

My client said when they purchased this home because they LOVED the property but the house needed SO much work as you will see in the before photos. She remembers sitting in this room after they purchased the home, crying saying “what have we done?” It was just all so overwhelming!!! However, they knew that it would eventually serve their family well. It’s the process that is just so daunting.

AFTER FAMILY ROOM

I don’t think she is crying anymore!! It has all been worth it! They wanted the space to seat their family well. The grandma’s love the swivel barrel chairs. They had the coffee table and I thought it worked well in the room so we kept it. The reclining leather sofas are perfect for TV watching and relaxing. They have plenty of storage and display shelves for their favorite things like his airplane collection 🙂

They slowly picked away at things and have done so much to update this home. The stone work and benches are GONE! New hardwoods throughout ,new kitchen, new lighting, installed rustic beams, updated the staircase and much much more. I can’t with popcorn ceilings, they make me feel claustrophobic.

DESIGN CONCEPT

Here is the design plan for the back wall that I presented to the client. I always love to give them a vision of what I’m thinking. It may or may not be the same but most of the time it turns out even better.

Turned out pretty close, don’t you think? We did do some change requests per the client's request.

BEFORE

The stone fireplace and bookshelves made the space feel cluttered and the client didn’t like the stone. We replaced it with something more simple that still has a ranch style feel.

AFTER

The client was really nervous about the dark color for the fireplace. I knew once all the furnishings were placed that it would be perfect. As designers, we see the full vision and our job is to keep our client focussed on the end result. The rug and the chairs make the fireplace come together. I just love the mushroom ottomans and the color is spectacular!
